We had a very busy day with a plan. Our church had their annual strawberry festival and we had a 2:00 o’clock birthday party. My plan: wipe the boys out at the strawberry festival so we could get early naps which would be much more fun for us at the birthday party. The plan worked. The boys had a blast and Joe and Luke went down for naps early.
First Bounce House
Luke is still a little bit too small for bounce houses yet, but it wasn’t too busy yet and our goal was to wear him out so we let him have a try he had a blast. He’s a cute one.
Happy Birthday Leo!
After naps we headed out to Leo’s Birthday Party. The boys had a blast with water balloons and the sprinkler at the party. Oh and they liked the cake too! The boys love visiting with Leo. We do too. It’s always good to see old friends.
Well this guy never ceases to amaze me. I know he watches his brothers alot, I catch him doing it, but he is amazing! He has about a 30 word vocabulary most only I understand. The other day I thought it was Joe behind me and told him to go to his chair. It was Luke and he trotted over to his chair. I realized he understands 80 percent of what I’m telling him and I started just talking to him like I do with the other boys. I’m stunned how much he responses to my direction. I don’t know if I was just a new clueless dad with the other two or he just that more advanced. It doesn’t really matter. I’m having fun experimenting with how much he knows and understands.
Another great day on vacation with great friends. A nice lazy day ending with a cat ride at sunset. This time booze was included. We all had a great time especially Chelsey. Good fun. I didn’t think about the boys one bit. Is that bad?
Debbie did a nice job of setting up just the right amount of activities. Today we took a working sailing trip with a guide teaching sailing. The only problem Richard and I had was no booze. It was still fun. A great day ending with a great sail.
Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Kirk, Chelsey and I heading to see some friends in Daytona Beach today for a much needed break. Chelsey needs it as much as I if not more. I’m really looking forward to some adult time.
It’s been wonderfully warm and the boys are enjoying the kiddy pool and a constant stream of popsicles. Today I decide is was ok to give Baby Luke his first popsicle. No surprise he loved it. Summer is here.
This is one of those great parenting moments. It seems weird but this made my day. I usually try to pick out clothes so the boys look nice when we are out. Ben is starting to assert himself with his clothes and I take a laid back approach to it. If he wants to wear it and he put it on so be it. Yes he looks a little dorky here but there is a reason he is wearing long dark socks. You see the socks were used for his mr. incredible costume so when he puts them on it makes him feel like mr. incredible. Yes, the next time you see a kid dress weird shake the parents hand. They are letting them be themselves.
As I’m sitting watching my nephew graduate, I started to wonder if I have what it takes to get my three boys thru high school and on to college? Do I have what it takes to keep these kids out of trouble? Can I keep myself healthy enough to be there for them in College. I will be sixty! Then I realized, ya probably. What a great family. Glen and Maria you have done a remarkable job. I took a lot of notes.
